The 11pm-on-a-Friday problem
It's 11pm on a Friday in February and every one of Snowline's fourteen units is full — ski-weekend full, families who drove in from Calgary and Edmonton and want the whole trip to be perfect. Dana is the on-call manager, which tonight means she is the whole company: front desk, maintenance dispatch, and complaint line, from now until Monday morning.
Her phone lights up three times in ten minutes. Unit 6's furnace has quit and there's a toddler asleep inside. A family at Unit 11 is standing in the snow because the keypad won't take their code. And someone at Unit 3 is on the line about the group next door who've taken the hot tub well past quiet hours — and, by the way, they'd like a refund.
